FRANMAR AWARDED “IT’S SUSTAINABLY SOY” CERTIFICATION

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – Franmar, Inc. has been awarded the “It’s Sustainably Soy” certification from the Illinois Soybean Association in Bloomington.

The certification recognizes businesses and organizations for their development and use of products with soybeans, a safer, renewable resource that’s better for people and the planet.

“The It’s Sustainably Soy certification recognizes organizations committed to environmentally friendly investments by utilizing products based on soybeans, a renewable, abundant crop,” said Todd Main, ISA director of market development. “By switching to soy, our society is making changes that are good for Illinois’ economy, environment and family farmers.”

In Illinois, soybeans are responsible for nearly 23,000 jobs and almost $1.2 billion in annual wages. All the soybeans used by Franmar are grown by farmers in the U.S.

“We are grateful for this recognition from the Illinois Soybean Association,” said Franmar General Manager Tim Whitlock. “It’s a reaffirmation of values we’ve had in place for a long time. We believe strongly in the many benefits that can be derived from soybeans, including for us, the creation of safer, effective and affordable products.”

As a family-owned small business, Franmar believes that people should be able to undertake cleaning and restoration projects without risking their health or harming the environment. For more than 35 years, our products have relied on the power of soybeans rather than harsh chemicals like methylene chloride, muriatic acid or trisodium phosphate (TSP). Soy-based solvents are an affordable, superior alternative because they can easily penetrate coatings, adhesives, grease, asphalt and more, without noxious odors or side effects.

Franmar’s first product, BEAN•e•doo® Plastisol Ink Remover, was developed using soybeans by our late founder and CEO, Frank Sliney. He attended screen printing trade shows and saw the toxic, hazardous - even flammable - chemicals being used to clean screens and knew there was a better solution.

Today, Franmar’s innovations include nearly two dozen products that are part of the BLUE BEAR® retail and industrial lines, as well as a full range of screen printing products. Visit our website, franmar.com, to learn more.
